Bring your iPad to this hands-on workshop to learn about its features and functions: What's in the box, controls and settings, adding content (audio, video, apps) via iTunes and the App Store. Explore the growing list of applications for teaching and learning, increased productivity, reference, and creativity.

SMART Board: Level 1 (Novice)
Become comfortable utilizing your SMART Board and SMART Notebook software in your classroom. In level 1 (novice) training, participants will learn how to set up and manipulate the SMART Board through touch, writing, erasing, and saving notes. An introduction of the SMART Notebook 10 software will be given to familiarize one with the menu, toolbar and side tabs and learn about their applications in lessons and activities. Learn how to manipulate objects from the gallery using the drop-down menu. Participants will explore the SMART Technologies Web site and look at an array of existing lessons that can be downloaded and edited to support classroom instruction.

SMART Board: Level 2 (Intermediate)
Learn how to design effective and interactive lesson activities based on best practices. In Level 2 Training (Intermediate), participants will utilize the Lesson Activity Toolkit to create interactive lessons based on curriculum needs. Learn how to customize the gallery, toolbar and floating tools for content needs. Add style to lesson activities using the properties tab to add animation, page recording, and themes. Learn to structure and organize lessons using title pages, attachments, and links to other sites and files. A breadth of examples showcasing student use and lesson activities will be presented. Come learn to plan, organize, and deliver dynamic lessons.

Introduction to Google Docs for Education
Google Docs can be powerful tools that foster collaboration, organization, and assessment. Participants in this course will explore and learn about some of the free tools available from Google such as Google documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and forms. Participants will get an introduction to how these tools work and will explore how to use these tools in an educational setting with students (as related to Bloom's Taxonomy), as well as using it to promote communication and collaboration between educators.

Introduction to Moodle: Moving Toward a Blended-Learning Environment
Moodle is an online Course Management System (CMS), also referred to as a Learning Management System (LMS), that is used by educators to create effective online learning spaces. It is an e-learning platform that facilitates communication between teachers and students. Teachers can use Moodle to develop blended-learning environments where teaching and learning extends beyond the classroom spaces and into online instruction and support. In this workshop, participants will learn how to customize their Moddle site, manage course files, add student resources (Web pages, documents, image galleries). Teachers will also learn how to set up communication tools in Moodle to implement collaborative activities for students.

Promoting STEM Using Scratch!!
Scratch is a free teaching tool that makes it easy for students to create their own interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art, which can be shared online with a larger community. As young people create and share Scratch projects, they learn important mathematical and computational ideas, while also learning to think creatively, reason systemically, and work collaboratively. Scratch uses a metaphor of puzzle pieces to help student create interactive online stories with images/grahics, similar to traditional computer programming languages. Students can also use reverse-engineering strategies with Scratch by downloading existing projects and analyzing how the animations were created by other users. http://scratch.mit.edu/

Introduction to the Polyvision Eno Board and Rm easiteach Software
This workshop will cover the basic mechanism of using the Polyvision interactive whiteboard and driver tools. In addition, participants will become familiar with the various tools and functions of the Easiteach software to develop lessons pertinent to their curriculum. They will also learn how to use previously-developed lessons as templates and create their own templates for skill development, practice, and application of identified skills.

Edmodo is quickly becoming one of the most popular technology tools used by teachers. Appearing to students much like Facebook, Edmodo gives students the feel of a social networking platform, while being completely controlled by the teacher in a secure, private online environment. It functions as a Webpage, blogspace, and interactive tool for collaboration -- all in one. Students and staff members alike can work on group projects, upload documents and files of any king to the class, as a group, or privately to the teacher. Students can workshop, peer edit, blog, view videos, maintain document libraries, receive class assignments, and updates -- all visible and controlled by the teacher.
This workshop will instruct teachers how to: set up educator and student accounts; create small learning groups, assignments, calendar posts, alerts; set up account to receive notifications of postings by text message or email; set up student survey/polls; and, embedd YouTube videos.
